MCA

Today we went to the MCA see the Aboriginal bark paintings, I saw one that is an interesting look at the three men running. The viewer can't tell what they're feeling, but their posture is very interesting, the three men are in the same funny posture, the painting name also make the viewer feel happy, it's call Three mimih men running.

Stop the bus!!!!

We went to the MCA to find out a few questions from karen. It's funny the person who was in the MCA couldn't answer us any questions. Was you really working here!?!?!?

We visited a lot of aboriginal bark painting. Some of them could easy to guess what meaning it is but the others hardly to tell. Also, we learnt to stand on the reviwer's side to discribe works using adjectives. It's difficult to present what feeling people get by seeing those comtemporary art and write it right in second language. But, we did it. YA!

Treasure Hunt

The Girls explored Sydney today trying to find the answers to 10 questions and bring me back 6 objects. They had to use their English skills to ask people for help, information and directions and they had to convince a stranger to have a photo with them!!

They all did a great job racing around the city on their treasure hunt. Read the stories of their adventures below.

Treasure Hunt

Today~!! We had to treasures to find 6 thing and Keran gave us 10 questions. If our team win this game, she will give some chocolates. We decided by lot. So ada and me constitute same team.First, We went to the George Street find the name of the cathedral next to Town Hall. When we went to the there, we couldn't find building. So we asked someone about cathedraland he kindly answered our questions. After that, We went to the Sydney tower to find out cost to do the Skywalk at the top of the Centrepoint Tower at night and ada asked a man about the price, he was also good to tell her au $65 for adult. Next we took a photo with the fountain that was in the matrix movie in Pitt Street. After took a photo, we found the big gallery in Circular Quay and brought a pamplet from this, and we went to the cadman's cottage Historic site for solve a question. Then we went to the tourist information, because brought a free postcard. We found a beautiful flower and coaster from pub while we were going to the Custom House, after we went to the martin place for know the name of the big bank, so we found it. Next we went to Hyde park for find large building which looks like a church. However, it is not a christian church. It is the place of worship for another religion. I think it was the most difficuit question and we made a mistake. After had to find the importance of the statue of a soldier in martin place and It is the council of the city of sydney.

Hard working to get Chocolate !

First, we went to Centrepoint tower to know about the skywalk price at night. So we asked at the information desk. Next we went to Elizabeth street to find out a large building. When we
walked through Hyde park, we got a flower. while we looking for the building's name and religion,
Shelina asked someone to get information, but It wasn't correct.
Anyway, while we were walking to Marin place, Shelina stole a coaster from a pub (we didn't bother anyone) . Then we arrived at Martin place where we found the information point (kiosk). We asked some questions to information woman who was friendly. After we found out the big bank which is a commenwealth. There were some interesting people who were wearing orange colour clothes and doing advertisement something, so we took a photo with them. After that we found the statue of a soldier the information woman told us where it is. Then we moved to Circular Quay to visit the art gallery and the tourist information office. We went to the art gallery first to take a pamplet and to know what type of art is in there.
There also were a information desk, so we could know answer easliy asking the information women. While we were walking to the tourist information office, we bumped into Hyeran's team. It made us getting uncomfortable so, we ran after we met them.
Finally we went to the tourist information office to get a free postcard and to ask the last question and where the fountain that was in the matrix movie is. Actually we took photos with two fountains ( one was in Hyde park , other one was in Martin place) but we didn't if we were correct.
We asked a man who we met yesterday. It was fun but he didn't know about the fountain.
Anyway we succeeded in doing our mission.
We ran to our school to be the winners.

Treasure hunt for chocolate!

First we went to the Centrepoint Tower to find out about the price at night, but we didnt find it from the pamphlet,so we went to the top of level to ask for information. Next, we went to the Hyde Park to get to know the church's name and which religion it is, while we were there we took a photo of the flower in Hyde Park.
After that, we went to the Martin Place to find out what the big bank's name is,while we were walking to get there we took the coaster from a bar without anyone noticing.(Shelina good job!) We saw the information nearby the bank, when we took a photo of the big bank, we wanted to ask!!!!! BUT, there was an elderly lady who is cute and nice for us , she helped us to find out the cathedral next to Town Hall,While we were asking that question we took a pamphlet of art. After we asked that question we wanted to get more information( that's what we came for!) ,but it's lucky for us , she wanted to answer more which we had already done! @_@ We are polite kids it's rude to go away without saying thanks. Becuase there was some question which were needed to deal with, sorry we were in hurry. Hey!! Was there anyone who wanted to take a photo with our cute and beautiful girls?Ok...it's you two who were on stilts.(We took a photo with stangers was done) Next, we went to the tourist information,so that we could find out another question as soon as possible, to ask about the oldest residence in Sydney. It's funny to go there because we asked for the same person yesterday, while we took three free postcard there.
Finally,we finished the whole questions. We noticed that we were totally wrong when we came back and check the answers with Karen, which the church in front of the Hyde Park is not what we wanted. So we ran as fast as we can to find out the answer about the Great Synagogue Church, while we were standing there one kindly old man came to help us.
Oops i forget to mention about taking a photo with fountain that was in the matrix movie. It's funny to say that because we didnt know where it is. So, we took a lot photos with fountain what we saw in Sydney, what smart girls we are, becuase we did it right ha........

Treasure Hunt!!!!!!!!!!!!(I'm tired...T.T)

First, we went to Hyde park to find out a large building which looks like a church. we knew that St. mary's cathedral was right church which we had to find so we wrote down this name of the church confidentely. While we were walking around Hyde park, we found a flower which we had to take to Karen. Next we went to Martin place where is located near George street to find the statue of a soldier. But we couldn't find it easily so we wanted to ask an information lady where we can find this statue. She is in her early 60years, and was so slow that we couldn't make hast. After that we asked her about the statue, we met two strangers who we could take a picture with. We hurried up going to another destinations to find out name of the big bank in Martin Place. It seemed to be difficult to find, but as soon as we saw the building, we knew it easily. The Commonwealth bank building is ornate and grand. After that, we went towards Circular Quay to go to big gallery that is called the MCA. Before entering the gallery, we found a pamphlet, but we wanted to know the exctely type of art in gallery. We were getting more and more tired but we had to find a final question and we went to the turist centre in the Rocks where we have been yesterday. It might be expected we found the information about the oldest residence in Sydney easily. On our way to come back to academy, we dropped in to the pub to take a coaster secretly. Our heart was pounding like a drum and we started running to get to our academy eariler than another team. Although we arrived at the G.V early, we found two wrong answers and we had to come out of school to find out the right church. It was easy to confuse with the St. mary's cathedral where is locatted in Hyde Park.
Finally, we get to school at 12:40 a.m. and we were checked our ansewers from Karen. She applaused to us and we prouded to do well ourselves.
I can't forget today forever and as soon as I arrive at my home, I may go to bed except dinner.

Treasure Hunt

Today we went to Treasure hunt, the winner will have chocolates. First we went to George Street find the name of the cathedral that near Town Hall, we asked a old man this question and he is very kindly show us the way to, so we finded the name is ST Andrew's. Next we went to Sydney Tower for ask the cost to do the skywalk at the top of the centrepoint tower at night, also we ask a man for answer, he is nice to told me au$65 for adult and au$59 for student. Then we take a photo with the fountain that was in the matrix movie in pitt street. After that we went to find the type of art is in the big gallery in Circular Quay, there was a petty girl gave us a pamphlet and told us the MCA is Museum of Contemporary art. When we went out the MCA, we saw a small building that have mark Cadman's Cottage Historic site, so there is it, the question 10 answer. Then we went to Tourist information office get some free postcard, we saw a pub in the side road, Helen went into the pub and took a coaster and she also took a flower in the park near Circular Quay. After that we went to the Customs house find what is in there, and then we went to Martin place to find the big bank which is called Commonwealth bank of Australia. After that we went to Hyde park find the closest train station is Museum, and we thought the church was ST Mary's Cathedral for Catholic. While we going back to Martin Place near George street to find the importance of the statue of a soldier, we found a stranger and she is so nice and happy to take the photo with me. Finally we finished the Treasure Hunt and back to school, when we meet Karen on the 12th floor, she told us that Vickey team already came back and were the winners. What dejecting news, but it is okay, I had a great time in this game.

Newtown - a suburb of tolerance

Newtown is an old and multiple cultural suburb that these shops and houses still exist. They are giving the area quite a quaint feel about it.
The wall painting is peppered with wall of lanes or buildings. Go into the lane you will see some terrace and cottage, which different from city's house style.
There are a lot of remarkable things in Newtown, for example, unique beauty shop, wonderful vibe restaurants and bars, alternative cinemas and historic church.
Savvy shoppers can enjoy some great selection of beauty shops which are stylish, vintage, pre-loved or trendy to go with your style and also Savvy tasters can have a wide range of foods which are Thai, Vegetarian, Organic, Italian and Africa to fit your appetite, also there is organic coffee.
Find a groovy bar to have a drink and trivia, which a game about asking questions and answer it, with your friends.
The contrasting modern style of Sydney is worth to visit. Don’t miss culturally Newtown, quite possibly, Australia.

Guestionnaire on the Environment

Today we went to the Queen Victoria building because to survey about environment problems.
I felt nervousness when first time. but many people helped me about it.
After that, We decided worst problem and thought about good for the environment.
So we found about New Green bag. The right picture is it.
What do you think about it? good or bad??
Do you help the environment in your daily lives??
If you don't do it, i want practice for environment.
For example recycling, use Solar power, use airconditioning heating less and so on.

Welcome to Seoul~!!

Do you want to experience genuine Korean culture? If your answer is yes, then I recommend a visit to Seoul,Korea.

You'll start the day with a visit to a traditional place, then go to a beautiful stream, and enjoy shopping. The first place to go for you in Seoul is Insa-dong because you can easily the historical culture. It has many traditional things so you can buy some Korean souvenirs and eat Korean food anytime. It rets crowded with visitors every weekend.

Second Place, The market is called Dong dea Moon market. It's in Seoul
It's open from 10:30 to 5 am the next day. It sells pretty cloths, shoes, accessories and so on.
You can buy almost anything in there. Also you can just enjoy the lively atmosphere at from evening time to till midnight. I often go there to buy clothes or window shopping.
moreover you should go to Chung gye stream. It has been restored with bridge, walkways, public art displays, waterfalls and fountains.
I like it because this market location near my house.

Do something good in our daily lives to help the environment.

Do you use enviromentaly fridendly cleaners to clean your home? Do you usually turn off lights when you dont need them? Do you re-use water for gardening or something else? Do you usually take public transportations when you go out? Do you use a engergy efficeient light globes in your home? Do you use the solar power to dry your clothes? What are they, yes or no?

From my survey, the best thing is everyone use a engergy efficeient light in their home, but the worst thing is cleaners. People won't buy a cleaner which shows NP or P on the surfaced of production for high price. And, it isn't convenient to take a transportation,so that people won't when they are going out.

Therefore, we should teach people to learn what NP and P are, they will know why they need to buy one for their home. Also, some area's transportations should be developed , unless people will drive thier car not taking a bus or a train. And,we did a poster to helping the enviroment. It's intersting to do that. :P

Trees are killed by bills!!!

Today we went to Queen Victoria do a survey of environment, it is not easy to do the survey, because people always say that he has no time or just go away, but finally I had found five kindly peoples to finish this survey as Karen requested.

exciting!

We went to the Acuarium. We had found many fish and enviroment problems.
There were too dark for us to write down the problems on our workseet but I was excited to
see many species fish.

The spectacular Sydney Aquarium, where the girls saw some amazing creatures.

We found nemo!! And we had to save Shelina from a stingray...It was trying to eat her I think

Good bye Aquarium.

Before go to the college, i took a picture whit my Karen teacher and classmate.

DO you know this fish??

Do you know this fish??
Actually I saw it first time
and i didn't see finding nemo.
it is very cute. Do you agree???
If i have free time, i will watch this movie.

The sea is particularly affected by pollution and global warming.
It's facing many problems. While look around The Aquarium, I found it.
Also Korea have about environment pollution.
For example Oil spills, Global warming, Shipping accidents, Rubbish and so on.

Went to the Sydney Aquarium

We went to the Sydney Aquarium.
After that We saw Animals of Australia
In addition i took pictures.
We had to find animals name.
The Sydney Aquarium have fish, mollusc's, ducks, crustacean and so on
I'm very happy, Because i feel experienced every day.

Sydney Aquarium

Today we went to Sydney Aquarium learn how to describing sea animals and their habitats, also we notice the sea is particularly affected by pollution and global warming. I love the world and hope people can learn how to not overuse the Earth.

Sydney Aquarium

What topic we were learning is sea animals. It's exciting to go to Aquarium. There are a lot lovely sea animals, for example, having curly tail's seahouse,in blue mood's sea starfish,be able to breath air from the surface and to swim in the sea's lungfish and also one thing unbelievible is shark egg....How come baby shark can be birth in that! At beginning, I thought that shark egg was a shell or crab something like that, but I was totally wrong ha......>"<

However, it's important to think about that the sea is affected by pollution and global warming and also it's facing some problems. Such as,the rubbish -plastic which it's mainly point ,nutrient pollution-ecosystem is lost its balance, toursism and shipping accidents and so on. They are a big problem for the sea animals. It's necessary to foucs on this issue. Where we live in needs our action to help them, and then we will have a chance to see a lot of lovely creatures in this wourld.
Speaking of the global warming, we also learnt how to use consequence for talking about something is possible in the future, and learnt some relative to today's topic of vocabulary. We really had a great fun today. Let's learn more and more!

Looking at the three dimensional map of Sydney
the girls found UEC college.
looking beautiful in the beautiful customs house

Let's have a party!

Everyone loves party very much! But, did you know how to plan it well?Let's find it out.....
1.Type of food 2.price 3.atmosphere 4.space 5.vegetarian/vegan/halal/kosher/options
6.performances 7.service 8.location....and so on, maybe a lots you can find it when you're planning it ... so that, it's difficult to prepare all section of party,if we want it all done well.

Firstly, we learnt how to read a menu of heading. Secondly,we learnt how to use map which karen gave us to find and collect some information. Sometimes, we could be easy to get a menu but sometimes couldn't. You should to ask waiter for menu ,for example, do you have a leaflet menu? because we were plainning a party for my friend's birthday.......Thirdly,what kind of restarant we learnt some skill to negotiate with other people to express your agreements and disagreements. Even if, you should know how to talk with people in polite way or be careful to being rude.

However, what kind of restaruant we chosen. we also had a great time by walking through that eara that Karen recommended us to collect. It's so beautiful.

Today our mission from Karen is to find a nice restaurants for friend's surprise party, we need to think about personal preferences regarding food and price, location.. etc issue to let our friend all can come to join this party.

Hello, Yu-ri. How are you? I heard you're working at Korea-air. I'm enjoying my life in Sydney.
I thing my English has improved more than before.

Anyway, if you want to study English especially grammar and listening, I recommend you to try watching movies or TV programmes to improve listening skill as well
If you are watching a movie for the first time, you should watch a movie with subtitles because, if you don't understand what's happening and the movie's meaning, you will be bored and you wouldn't want to watch it again. I know a good book which is useful in studying grammar. It's called "Grammar in Use" you can choose your level properly. I also studied grammar using this book. You wil get better for sure. Good luck

Bye, see you in August

Your friend

How Work on Independent Learning

Dear Joey

How are you going? It's good to know that you are doing well and your family are, too.
So are you plainning to do something, recently? travelling? or want to visit me in Australia! I can be your tour guide as good as i can, because I've been Australia for 5 months, and I join in the another course called "English for life",so that I learn something from it.
Waiting for your news!

By the way, you asked something about learning English by independent and how work on
Gammar and Listening. In my opinino, you can buy a gammar book to help your knowing tenses, for example, past simple, present simple and present perfect and so on. Also, you can practice and use it in this book to make you understand why it is used like that. And, it's important to have a good dictionary to help your learn that word of formed and irregular formed. Other one, i think you can try to listening to radio, TV which speaking in English, Movies with subtitle and talking books. Before you listen to those which i mentioned, make sure that you can know some information about what you are going to listen to, that's it, you will easy get to know them all.

I hope those what i suggest to you can help you a lots on learning, if you have a some problems just let me know, ok?

Keeping in touch

best wishes,
Vicky
